Crouch End Shopping
Crouch End is a bustling shopping area, and is lucky to have retained many small independent traders, so residents aren't forced to visit out-of-town supermarkets. Much is available locally, there is an excellent fishmongers, Walter Purkis and Sons, two local butchers, a bakery and several patisseries. The Haelan Centre specialises in whole foods and organic produce, and also have an excellent range of eco-friendly cleaning products, herbs, teas and essential oils and lots more. There are card and gift shops, with Treehouse on Park Road providing a wonderful range of cards. Budgens is Crouch End's main supermarket and offer a wide range of essentials and deli products. You could happily exist in Crouch End barely knowing that the rest of London is just outside!
Seasoned Crouch Enders viewing the 2005 virtual tour will notice two significant changes to the high street that took place at the end of 2008 - credit-crunch victims Woolworths and Myers Furnishing have both closed down, leaving a large corner of Crouch End unoccupied. In the tours you can see both stores as they once were.
