Hornsey High Street, Hornsey Public Baths

Loading map...
The single storey building visible in the Hornsey High Street virtual tour is the Hornsey Public Baths and Wash Houses. These were built in 1932 and were a vital amenity for Hornsey residents who didn't have the luxury of a bathroom at home. The public baths were provided to help fight disease through good hygiene. As well as bathing facilities they also provided areas for washing linens. The Hornsey Public Baths have sadly been empty for many years, and are now scheduled for demolition to make way for a Sainsbury's supermarket.
