Hornsey Town Hall

Loading map...
Built in 1935, Hornsey Town Hall won an RIBA award for the best public building in London. Queen played their first gig here, and other groups like Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull and The Kinks have also played here. In fact, Ray Davies was a student at the Art College (the old TUC building on Crouch End Hill which is now part of Coleridge Primary School).

The Grade II listed Town Hall is no longer a functioning Town Hall (the functions of the town hall for Crouch End now being performed in Wood Green) and although offices are still sited in the building, the grand public areas are now mostly used as storage space, and the old council chamber has been sealed off due to concerns about asbestos.
