Priory Road, Alexandra Palace Junction

Priory Road is named after The Priory, a huge neo-Gothic manor house which stood in 18 acres on the north (Alexandra Palace) side of Priory Road. Originally owned by the Warner family (after whom a side road to Priory Road is named) it was also owned for a spell by Henry Reader Williams, the philanthropist who helped retain Highgate Woods as public woodland and in whose honour the Crouch End clock tower was erected. The house was demolished in 1902 (having only stood for 82 years).

This virtual tour is captured at the end of Priory Road with the junction of both Muswell Hill and Alexandra Palace Way. The parade of shops at this end of Priory Road boasts a fantastic Japanese supermarket called Fuji Foods - their freshly made sushi is incredibly tasty. If you're in the area, drop in for a teryaki tuna or California roll! Please click the thumbnail photo below to view the fullsize virtual tour.
