The Green, Crouch End
This Crouch End virtual tour shows the green in the Hornsey Town Hall square in the centre of Crouch End. The 2005 virtual shows the old electricity showrooms just after Powerhouse (an electric and white goods retailer) had closed down. Viewers of the television comedy 'Peep Show' will recognise Powerhouse as being the shop where Jez and Mark (the two main characters) look in the window to see themselves recorded and transmitted live to a TV screen in the opening credits.
This corner of the square has been completely transformed by the addition of The Italian Deli, who moved in to the old Powerhouse premises. As well as the deli and Italian produce on offer, they have created a lovely cafe inside with 1950's style booths and a street cafe with heaters and a screen of foliage.
